A few highlights of what the kiddos are doing these days:
Laine, 14 months today
Getting into everything. If there is a cabinet, drawer, bin, box she can open she does, then proceeds to pull out what she can before getting caught.
Walking everywhere, most of the time. She doesn’t like being strapped in the stroller anymore but isn’t quite ready to go stroller-free for long periods of time.
Standing on the coffee table, then giving us the “I know I’m not supposed to be up here” look.
Getting assertive; she no longer puts up with brother pulling rank.
Eating anything and everything.
Somersaulting, jumping, spinning, and dancing.
Imitating bother. Monkey see, monkey do. And if we say this, she makes a monkey sound.
Kissing us, animals in books, toys. Slobbery, open mouth kisses.
Pointing out her body parts. She knows nose, ears, tongue, head, belly button, feet, and a few others.
Reading obsessed. She brings books to us, grabs our hands, then puts the book in it while turning to sit in our lap. If we don’t have a lap, she’ll turn to sit on our leg or whatever body part she can sit on. We read the same books over and over and over all.day.long.
Pointing at things, especially at what she wants. And airplanes, as soon as she hears an airplane the finger is out.
Petting the animals; she’s really interested in them lately.
Wearing 2T tops and 18 month bottoms.
Sleeping in the Pack ‘N Play in our room.
Napping once a day at 1pm for 2-3 hours; going to bed between 6:30-7pm.
Waking up between 5:30-7am, then flopping around like a fish for about a half hour before raring to go.
Blaise, 24 months
Playing in the water; he loves anything water.
Putting things in things, then removing them and putting them in other things. He’s also really into lining up all of his trucks, then rearranging them.
Reading books, specifically seek and find books or anything transportation.
Helping with everything. If trash needs to be taken out, he’s on it; if the dogs need to be fed, he feeds them; if something is out of place, he puts it back. He’s our little helper.
Following rules, he is a stickler for doing things the way they’re supposed to be done. And if we do them differently, he calls us out.
Becoming Mr. Independent. He is all about making decisions for himself.
Communicating really well. He’s a man of few words but understands everything we ask/tell him and communicates what he needs really well … even if it’s coming to get us and pulling us toward what he wants.
Spotting airplanes and birds, then waving goodbye to them as they fly away.
Exploring his and our bodies, pointing out all body parts. He’s really into the details of our faces and noticing differences in us.
Sitting like a big boy at restaurants; no more high chairs.
Wearing 2T tops and bottoms.
Choosing to sleep on his bedroom floor for naps and at bedtime.
Napping once a day at 1pm for 3-4 hours; going to bed between 7:30-8pm.
Waking around 7am (or earlier if sister is up), then slow to get up and moving like Brian.
