Summer 2024

It’s 2025. I’m really behind updating this sucker. Getting right to it, Summer 2024. I haven’t been much of a picture taker the past year or so, not sure why?! Which means this summer post is reduced to whatever pictures I took because I rely on them to trigger my memory. Here goes.

A few summer trips happened. London and Crete. California. Leavenworth.

And of course, Laine turned 13!

Saige finished her first year on the dance team. She had a great year and enjoyed the team but decided not to do it again. Then she changed her mind and is on the dance team again.

Basketball ended and Saige couldn’t have been happier. She didn’t love basketball but stuck it out. Which is kind of funny because she’s now on a select basketball team and still doesn’t like it much. Her BFF is on the team and she decided to play so they could have the same schedule. They’re both on the dance team also.

Last days of school. Maive finished her second year of outdoor preschool. Saige and Baby wrapped up second and third grade, and Blaise and Laine (no picture) finished seventh grade.

Baby made it onto a club soccer team. She started practices in June and is enjoying it so far. She’s not sure she’ll do it again next year because she wants to do all the sports.

Summer trail outings. I’ve yet to get back into my daily outings but I checked off several over summer.

Summer park outings. Nothing much to note. Trying to speed up this post so I can move onto the others I’m behind on.

Maive and her activities: swimming lessons, gymnastics, and a dance summer camp.

Fourth of July festivities. I’m not a fan, Brian takes the kids to all the morning things while I hit the trail. He also takes them to the fireworks at night while I stay home.

Library bubble time. In all the years of having kids, I finally took two of them to a free library event, all about bubbles. We walked up and back, and the girls did the stick the flower to your nose thing.

Summer animals. What we think is a weasel in our backyard. I unknowingly saved a baby bunny from this guy. I let Mel out and he saw a baby bunny and chased it, and this guy was chasing the baby bunny. When I let Mel out, the bunny scurried away and this guy hid behind out outdoor toy chest. He was feisty! A horse lying down, living the life I want, haha. And a cute summer deer getting a drink from the river.

Some summer outings.

The next town over has a parade every June. Saige was in it for cheer and thoroughly enjoyed handing out candy.

One of the few hikes I did over summer, up to the clay pit on Cougar Mountain.

Blueberry picking like we do every summer. I’m convinced no other blueberry farm is as beautiful as this one, right under Mount Si.

An outing to Remlinger on a rainy August day. Baby met up with one of her buddies for a day of fun.

We went to a baby shower where the kids designed onesies for the baby and played volleyball.

We ended summer with a pool party. Apparently you can rent out the Cottage Lake pool through the YMCA. It was a nice way to end summer.

Short and sweet. Our summer was much more full but I’m not in the mindset to recall all that we did. Not without pictures to help me, haha.
