This is a new trail, and I only learned about it because a friend has set up weekly hikes. If you can make them, great. If not, no biggie. I had already missed out on a handful of weekly hikes she arranged so I wanted to make this one work. It was a close call. Maive had gymnastics at 11:30am and we were meeting at 9:30am. I figured we’d have to cut out early but it actually worked out perfectly.
It was a bit before 9:30am when we arrived. I’m an on time is late kind of person, thanks to my mom forgetting me on my first day of kindergarten, haha—I’m convinced this is why I am always early everywhere I go (even with kids in tow). This day I had Laine, Baby, and Maive with me. I’m not sure why I didn’t have the other two? Blaise was probably still sleeping and I can’t recall why Saige stayed behind.
For a small trail, there are two different places to park. The directions from the WTA site took me to one entrance, along with another mom and her two kids who were joining us (my friend’s friend whom I hadn’t met before). My friend ended up at a different entrance just up the road. Thankfully it’s all close enough and we were able to meet up within minutes.

It’s short but I like this one. It started with a boardwalk and I’m a sucker for any kind of wooden bridge. I didn’t grab a picture though?! After the boardwalk it opens up to the standard nature around here. There is a rusted out old vehicle of some sort? You know the trail is new because there are no gunshots on the thing. Every other trail I’ve hiked with rusty old vehicles, they all have gunshots all over.
The trail winds through trees and there are a few spots where you can choose your adventure and go one way or another. It seems they all meet up eventually. It’s under two miles total, and really hard to get lost. Not stroller-friendly, the other mom was hopeful it was. The kids found an open area with a downed tree they decided to climb on and around. We must have spent a good 20 minutes there while they did their thing.

It was nearing the time we’d need to leave to get to gymnastics. All the kiddos were ready to call it a hike. We walked back on the trail the way we came in, and said our goodbyes at the trailhead. Not a bad start to a busy Friday.
