Four!

Last birthday post, phew. Too many kids, haha. Sometimes I wish their birthdays were more spread out over the year. But then I think it would always feel like there’s a birthday?! At least with all their birthdays close—while exhausting—they’re over with a nice long break. An almost nine month break.

Maive! The last birthday of birthday season, which ends right before the start of the holidays, Literally the next day is Halloween.

Maive’s birthday was on a Monday this year. The big four! She’s no longer a toddler, just a little girl. Bittersweet. I’m beyond happy to be moving past the having kids phase of life, and watching them grow older. Having Maive turn four (and now four and a few months), we are now in new territory. We’ve never had a kid as old as Maive, without a younger kid.

Four is a fun age. And exhausting. It’s also the dictator phase. Four is really all the things. No complaints, it’ll be a blip in the past soon enough.

Maive is a blast. I couldn’t be happier that we had a bonus baby. Life with her added to the family feels so right. She is a happy kiddos, silly, smart, talkative, independent… so many adjectives (and energy) in that little body. We all just love her so much! She has a constant cheer squad of six people. Life for her is pretty damn amazing.

We had her party on Sunday and celebrated as a family on her actual birthday. Her party was the same as last year, at Kidz Bounce. She wanted it again, and it’s easy.

The rest of Sunday was spent at home, lazily. We were all so tired from Saturday sports, the morning party, and the excitment of birthdays and Halloween on the horizon.

Monday was a typical day, kids at school and activities. Maive and I celebrated the whole day, doing whatever she wanted since it was her day. We took Laine to gymnastics as usual but picked her up early so we could get the family celebration going. Dinner, cake, and presents. As usual. Sometimes we go crazy and spice it up, and eat dinner and then do presents, and then have cake. Crazy here in our family, haha.

Birthday season 2023, check.
