Coal Creek Falls

This sucker is a standard for us. We’ve hiked it several times over the years. The first time we hiked this one was when Saige was about five months old. I took the stroller and hoped it was stroller-friendly. It was stroller-friendlyish enough. I remember this day because we decided to try for a fourth, and I had taken a pregnancy test that morning. It was negative. I was bummed. Spoiler: I took a test the next day and it was positive.

With Baby in tow the next year, Coal Creek Falls was my first solo hike with all four kids (pre-Maive). I remember an older woman was hiking solo this day and said, “Good job, mom!” to me a she passed by me with Baby in the hiking backpack on my back, Saige toddling along as a two-year-old, and Blaise and Laine running wild. I managed, and it was fine. Nowadays I think nothing about taking all the kids on a hike. It probably helps that they’re all a bit older now.

This day I only had Saige and Maive. Two kids, easy peasy. We met up with friends for a wet, rainy hike. Nothing major to note, just a standard PNW hike in February. I’m mostly making a separate post so I can look back at the hikes we do this year without having to dig through my lengthy, rambling monthly posts (even with a hiking tag).

The falls! With a wet Saige and Maive. Thankfully they’re outdoor school kids and are used to being outside in whatever weather.

Saige and her buddy enjoying the shallow water.

Maive being a silly goose!
